How to collect emails and send an opt-in gift, before you have a full site
So you don't have a full website yet, but you want to start building your list and delivering an opt-in gift?
People often use Leadpages for this type of thing.
It’s exactly what Leadpages was built for, so it’s the obvious first choice.
But as you may have realized after a quick bit of research, Leadpages costs at minimum $25.00/month.
I’m going to introduce you to a cheaper option than Leadpages, that allows you to collect emails before you have a full site.
Oh and it also just so happens to be a synch to set up!
Oh and before I go any further, kudos gal, you friend are on the right track!
It’s good business to build a list of interested folks before you launch fully to the world.
You’ll no longer have to worry about launching to an empty room, instead you’ll have a nice email list who are ready to pick up what you’re putting down!
Not to mention, this is a great way to validate your idea.
If you get a boatload of signups, then you’ll know your idea is going to take off once you launch it, and if it doesn’t, it’s still a win, because you’ll learn that maybe your idea isn’t what people are looking for, and thankfully for you, you’ve just saved yourself a heck of a lot of time working on launching something that wasn’t going to do so hot anyways.
Okay, now that we’ve established you’re a genius businesswoman for putting up a page to collect emails before you launch your next big thing, let’s get down to just how to do this, tech-wise!
For this little tech tutorial, I’m going to be using Squarespace and MailChimp.
Squarespace runs $12/month or if you use the code 'PAIGE' at checkout it'll run you $10.80/month 😉.
MailChimp is free up to your first 2,000 subscribers. So either, Mailchimp will be free, or you’ll collect more than 2,000 emails, which is a surefire way of knowing your idea is going to kill it, and you’ll make back that MailChimp expense in no time when you launch!
You’ll also need to buy a domain. If you get one through Squarespace that’s $20/year, or $1.66/month. So your total cost will be $12.46/month.
In case mental math isn't your thing, that's half the cost of Leadpages 😊.
I'll take it!
(Oh and P.S., you don’t need to pay for hosting, plugins, templates, etc.)
Okay, here’s the process. I created a quick video for you to walk you through this.
There you have it, a one page site, on your own domain, with email subscriber storage connected, that delivers an opt-in gift!
You’re ready to now shout from the rooftops about your opt-in gift and your ‘site’ until you have a chance to get the real thing launched.
Oh, and I almost forgot to mention, I got you a little something off the price of your Squarespace plan! Don’t forget to use the code 'PAIGE' when you checkout with Squarespace to get 10% off your plan for your first year!
